Independence Day

IMG_4688 IMG_4709 IMG_4714Bryan and the girls participated in Stapleton's bike parade through Central Park for the 4th of July. It was fun and just the right length. We are loving Stapleton and the sense of community we feel here.

Greek Festival

IMG_1359IMG_1338 IMG_1359 IMG_1399 IMG_1430We went to the Denver Greek Festival with my parents on June 17th and enjoyed delicious Greek food, Greek folk music and dancing and tours of the cathedral and chapel. The smaller Byzantine dome inside was covered with mosaics and the larger one was completely covered in beautiful murals depicting stories from the Bible. I bought a $2 raffle ticket to win a free trip to Athens for 2 people. Sadly, I didn't buy the winning ticket but it was a cheap thrill. Maybe next year . . .

My birthday

IMG_1334 IMG_1331I was so fortunate to be able to celebrate my birthday this year with my entire family. The last time that happened was probably before Emily left for college! My mom made a nice dinner and birthday strawberry rhubarb pies.

Fairy Garden

Our new house doesn't really have a yard - we have a shared courtyard and also a little fenced in garden out front. It was overgrown and had big ugly juniper bushes taking up all the space so yesterday my parents came and tidied it up and pulled out the juniper bushes for me. It was very nice of them and I'm so happy to have those juniper bushes gone! I've been thinking about helping the girls make a fairy garden for a while and this morning I looked out at our freshly weeded garden and felt like today was the day! We went to Goodwill to pick up a few odds and ends to make fairy cottages and then when we came back my parents were there to help again. The girls were very creative and did this almost entirely on their own but we couldn't have done it without my parents keeping Freya (Godzilla as Norah and Alice sometimes call her) at bay. Courtney and Bryce Visit

IMG_9997IMG_0018IMG_9989 IMG_0040 IMG_0080 IMG_0093 IMG_0117IMG_0076 IMG_0120 IMG_0125 IMG_0135  We had so much fun with Courtney and Bryce and we can't wait for them to come back! While they were here we explored Denver's 16th street mall and saw a bit of Denver's Day of Rock. We sample gourmet popcorn and ate Proto's pizza and visited REI. Sunday we had a picnic at Garden of the gods and finished the day off with a strawberry Rhubarb pie. Monday morning we toured the zoo and had lunch at the Chop Shop before they had to head back to Provo. Through it all they were charming, gracious and so helpful and playful with the kids. They played lots and lots of rounds of rock paper scissors!

Norah's Skate Party

IMG_9942
We celebrated Norah's 7th birthday at Skate city with cousins and a family from our neighborhood. Norah had a wonderful time and received her first pair of skates as part of the party package.

IMG_9945IMG_9959 Another highlight was being honored along with another birthday girl during the chicken dance. Somethings never change - this birthday party was retro-fabulous!IMG_9975 IMG_9977 IMG_9978IMG_9984
