Freya’s First Birthday Party

Freya was born on a Friday and her first birthday conveniently fell on Saturday. We invited our friends the Prentice’s over for dinner and had a small party to celebrate. The main activity was playing with the new water table Freya received as a birthday gift from Mimi and Grandpa Guy. It was a HUGE hit and all the kids enjoyed it. IMG_4132Here she is with her birthday table cloth and birthday dress from MimiIMG_4145 She had lots of help blowing out her candle IMG_4154Freya really put on a show with her birthday cake. She teased us at first dipping her finger in the whipped cream to taste it and then dabbing it on her nose. “Oh is this whipped cream? Hmmm I guess I’ll try a taste. It is my birthday after all, but I’m really not one to over indulge”IMG_4157Eventually though she forgot about the camera and cheering crowd and ate with abandon. She focused on efficiency employing both hands as utensils and keeping them loaded. She also found that squeezing the cake in her fists maximized the amount of cake she could fit in her mouth.IMG_4158

Happy Birthday Freya!

Our little Freya is one year old today. This past week Lindsey watched all our videos of her and condensed them to this three minute recap video. If it weren't for her our 3rd girl would have been shortchanged on these very special videos. Happy Birthday Freya! You are a joy in my life.

Little Forest Hills 4th of July Parade

This year we celebrated the 4th by watching the Little Forest Hills Parade. We got there 15 minutes early which was more than necessary and left us plenty of time to take some pictures.IMG_2047IMG_2064 We watched the parade with our next door neighborsIMG_2070IMG_2074It was a nice parade with a great neighborhood feel. It was just about 15 mintues long but had all the essentials: a firetruck with the fire fighters throwing candy, musicians, kids riding bikes, and few funny floats. After the parade the neighborhood gathered at Casa Linda Park for watermelon and apple pie. Is there anything more American?IMG_2101I think Bryan looks very handsome in this pictureIMG_2099 Norah and Alice waited patiently for balloon animalsIMG_2119During the parade Dean specifically requested to have his picture taken with the bumble beeIMG_2123The highlight of the celebration was the dance performance by “the dazzlers”IMG_2126  Norah with an 89 year old tap dancer!IMG_2129 After Freya took a nice long nap, we went for a ride on the M-line TrolleyIMG_2138 And stopped for Shakes at the Highland Park Soda fountain which is over 100 years oldIMG_2149
